The Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE welcomed the EPIC Racing Weekend for a special summer meeting in the Spanish capital, bringing the F4 Spanish Championship back to the track for its fourth round of the 2026 season.
With Madrid in the middle of the August summer period, fans who made their way to the historic Jarama circuit were treated to a weekend entirely focused on single-seater racing, with the young talents of the F4 Spanish Championship taking centre stage across three races and two qualifying sessions.
The legendary 3.850-kilometre circuit once again provided the perfect setting for close racing. Its narrow layout, elevation changes and iconic corners created a demanding challenge for the drivers and plenty of action for the fans throughout a weekend that ultimately produced three different race winners and a new championship leader.
Three races, three different winners
Saturday’s action began with an extremely close first qualifying session, in which Borys Lyzen claimed his maiden F4 Spanish Championship pole position. The Polish rookie led an MP Motorsport front-row lockout ahead of teammate Kasper Schormans, setting the stage for an intense opening race later that afternoon.
Lyzen initially maintained the lead from pole, but Schormans made his move following one of several Safety Car periods. The Dutch driver attacked his teammate into Turn 1 at the restart and took control of the race before another interruption eventually brought the contest to an end behind the Safety Car.
Schormans therefore secured his first victory of the regular season, with Lyzen completing a one-two for MP Motorsport and Jacob Micallef taking the final place on the podium.
Sunday brought another new name to the front. Elliot Kaczynski produced an outstanding lap in Qualifying 2 to secure his maiden pole position, beating Schormans by just 0.081 seconds in a session that demonstrated the remarkable level of competition throughout the field, with 24 drivers covered by only one second.
Race 2 delivered one of the most unpredictable moments of the weekend. Multiple incidents, Safety Car periods and a red flag repeatedly interrupted the action, but Lyzen kept his composure to take his third victory of the season. Schormans finished second to continue his impressive points haul, while Vivek Kanthan completed the podium.
The final race of the EPIC Racing Weekend provided Kaczynski with the opportunity to complete his breakthrough weekend. Starting from pole, the Drivex rookie resisted intense pressure from Schormans all the way to the chequered flag, eventually taking his maiden F4 Spanish Championship victory by just 0.234 seconds.
Aleix Piñera completed the Race 3 podium following a post-race penalty for Lyzen, bringing an action-packed weekend at Jarama to a close.
A new leader emerges at Jarama
Beyond the individual victories, the EPIC Racing Weekend also produced a significant change in the championship picture.
A remarkably consistent weekend of one victory and two second places propelled Schormans into the lead of the F4 Spanish Championship. The MP Motorsport driver leaves Madrid with 140 points, ahead of teammate Lyzen on 122.
Andrej Petrovic remains firmly in contention with 118 points, with former leader Noah Monteiro following on 114 and Rocco Coronel on 111. Nacho Tuñón completes the top six with 97 points, keeping the title battle wide open heading into the closing stages of the season.
MP Motorsport also strengthened its position at the top of the Teams’ Championship after an extremely productive weekend at Jarama. The Dutch squad now leads with 251 points, ahead of T-Code on 211, while Griffin Core sits third with 148. KCL Motorsport follows on 138 points, just ahead of Drivex on 135.
With three different winners, maiden successes, a championship lead changing hands and close racing throughout the field, the EPIC Racing Weekend provided another memorable chapter of summer motorsport at one of Spain’s most historic circuits.
The combination of the legendary Jarama setting, the August atmosphere in Madrid and a new generation of drivers fighting for every position made the F4 Spanish Championship the perfect protagonist of a weekend designed to bring fans closer to the action.
The EPIC Racing Weekend will return from 25 to 27 September, when the EPIC NAPA Racing Weekend heads to the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto for the next chapter of the 2026 season.
